In this section you will find rates and descriptions for instruction for individuals, semi-private groups, group lessons, clinics, corporate outings, tune-ups and check-ups, and playing lessons. Private, individual lessons are available by appointment. Drop-ins are welcome, but subject to availability - it's best to call ahead. Players of all ability are welcome. We cover all aspects of the game - putting, chipping and green side, short-, mid-, and long-irons, fairway woods and the driver, the mental side of the game, and course management. Lessons are usually in hourly increments, and tune-ups and check-up can run from 15 minutes to half an hour. Discounts are available for 3-series and 6-series lessons. Lessons at The Golf Lab in Palo Alto include indoor video swing analysis, Achiever launch monitor for swing speed, launch angle, and swing path, as well as peak practice drills, sports psychology worksheet handouts (and homework!), and of course the infamous notebook. Lessons in the East Bay are usually at outdoor facilities. Tune-ups are for students who have already had lessons but have a small problem they would like to address, or who just want to be sure they are on the right track with their practice.

PLAYING LESSONS: The objective in golf is to score well, so the emphasis during playing lessons is not the same as teaching lessons. During the playing round lesson the emphasis will be on managing yourself, managing your game, and figuring out how to score better. We will emphasize mental techniques such as consistency, confidence, tension moderation, strategy, course management, visualization, and the elimination of mistakes. This is a chance to learn the true secrets of the pros and put it to use.

SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS: For 2-3 players. If you'd like to share the burden or just want to have fun with friends, how about semi-private lessons? Semi-private lessons are sold in 3-series or 6 series lessons and usually run an hour and a half. Semi-private lessons are available in the East Bay on weekends at several locations, by appointment only. These lessons are fun and relaxing, and include not only swing instruction but also games and contests. All aspects of the game are covered.

CLINICS are available for large groups or corporate clients. Clinics are 1-day events and generally last 2 to 3 hours depending on the needs of the group, and can also include playing lessons. They include a long drive exhibition, a variety of trick shots, and especially for corporate clients, a short talk on how to apply lessons from golf to the corporate world. Group participants also hit balls and receive instruction and swing tips. Clinics are quoted on a case-by-case basis. PALO ALTO: Every Thursday you will find me at The Golf Lab in Palo Alto. The phone number is 650-493-1770. Ask for Leith or Bob. The address is 2103 St. Francis Drive, 94304. The Golf Lab is located in a shopping center on the Northwest side of the intersection of Embarcadero Road and Hwy 101. Lesson Times begin at 9:00 (earlier if you really need it) and go until 7:00 pm (last appt. 6:00 pm.). EAST BAY: Fridays and weekend lessons are in the East Bay at one of several locations depending upon convenience for students. Times are subject to availability and are by appointment only.
